Mount Gambier adalah kota kedua terbesar di South Australia setelah Adelaide. Kota ini bisa ditempuh sekitar satu jam perjalanan dari Casterton. Pada hari Senin, 30 Agustus 2010 kami menyempatkan diri untuk melihat-lihat di kota ini yang mempunyai beberapa tempat tujuan wisata.
Mount Gambier is second largest city in South Australia after Adelaide. This city is just one hour drive from Casterton. On Monday, 30 August 2010 we visited this city which has many tourist attractions.
Perhentian pertama adalah Umpherston Sinkhole. Taman ini dibuat oleh James Umpherston pada tahun 1886.
Taman ini sangat populer di Mt. Gambier, selain sebagai tujuan wisata, tempat ini juga sering dijadikan tempat upacara perkawinan. Pada malam hari, possum-possum juga akan muncul dan menunggu diberi makanan oleh para wisatawan.
Our first stop was at the Umpherston Sinkhole. This beautiful garden was made personally by James Umpherston in 1886. Now, besides popular as tourist destination, this garden also often used for wedding ceremonies. At night, this garden is also full of possums waiting to be fed by tourists.
Selain Umpherston sinkhole, masih ada lubang - lubang runtuhan lain di Mt. Gambier. Salah satunya ada di tengah kota. Pada saat kita datang lubang ini sedang dibersihan dari sampah-sampah yang dibuang seenaknya oleh turis.
The Umpherston sinkhole is one of many scattered around Mt. Gambier. One of them in the middle of the city. When we were there, this sinkhole was being cleared of all the rubbish left by tourists.
Kami juga mengunjungi Blue Lake, yang warna air danaunya bisa berubah-rubah tergantung musim. Biasanya saat summer danau akan berwarna biru, sedangkan saat winter, warna danau adalah hijau keabu-abuan.
We also visited the Blue Lake. The colour changes from season to season. In the summer, the water usually is blue. while in winter it is turquoise green.
Berjarak sekitar 15 menit dari Blue Lake, ada Valley Lake.
Fifteen minutes drive from Blue Lake, there is the Valley Lake.
Dari sini, kami keliling kota mencari makan siang. Akhirnya kami makan siang di Malaysian restaurant. Saya pesan Kuetiaw goreng, yang enak sekali lho. Hmmmm, jadi inget rumah....
From here, we went around the city looking for somewhere to have lunch. We ended up at a Malaysian restaurant. I ordered a very delicious char kwee tiaw. Hmmmm...made me miss home!
