Riverland

For my birthday this year, David took me to the Riverland, a beautiful region of South Australia which is built on Australia's largest river, the Murray. It has many regional centres such as Renmark, Berri, Loxton, Waikerie and Barmera with several smaller towns like Glossop, Monash, Overland Corner and Blanchetown.

We arrived Friday night at the Barmera Country Club.

Our room was a comfortable 2 bedroom unit with a view of the golf course from our back window wall.

On Saturday, we visited the nearby town of Loxton and I fell in love with this charming little town in the heart of Riverland.

On Sunday, we went to Banrock Station, a beautiful place dedicated to making fine wines while also protecting and rebuilding the regions original flora and fauna. A perfect place to relax while enjoying the view of the vineyards and panoramic wetland.

Through the winter, the vineyards appear dried and lifeless, but for me it still looked beautiful.

We had lunch at the Bella Lavender Estate cafe and stayed on to play putt putt. I got the only "Hole in one" of the round.

Then we went to the Monash Adventure Park, which is a giant playground for all ages.

On Monday we traveled home stopping at Waikerie where we enjoyed lunch at Havenhand Chocolate Factory. All in all, a wonderful weekend away thanks to my dear husband.
