Casterton

Dalam perjalanan kembali ke Adelaide, kami menginap beberapa malam di Casterton. Kota kecil di Victoria, 35km dari perbatasan dengan South Australia.
On the way back to Adelaide, we stayed few nights at Casterton. It is a small town in Victoria, 35km from the border of South Australia. 

Di Casterton kami menginap di rumah temannya David, Karyn dan David Bothe. Ini kedua kalinya saya menginap di rumah mereka. Kami sangat suka menginap di tempat D&K, tempat mereka memberikan suasana tenang dan santai.
At Casterton, we stayed at David friend's place, Karyn and David Bothe. This was a second time I stayed at their place. We love it there, their garden is so peaceful and relaxing.

Saat hari cerah, pagi atau sore biasanya kami duduk-duduk di halaman belakang, minum kopi dan mengobrol. Kali ini saya sambil baca buku, David mengisi teka teki silang dan Karyn main-main dengan ayamnya.
Whenever it's sunny outside, we usually sit in the backyard, have a cup of coffee and chat. This time I had my book with me, David did some crosswords and Karyn played with her chooks (chickens). 

Minggu siang, anak D&K, Cheryl datang berkunjung bersama anak-anaknya, Vanessa, Mathilda dan Amy.
Sunday afternoon D&K's daughter, Cheryl and her daughters, Vanessa, Mathilda and Amy came around to visit. 

Setelah David pulang kerja, kami main tennis meja. Eh, saya juga bisa lho main tennis meja. Tapi sedikit aja bisanya..... ^_^
After David came back from work, we played table tennis. For your information, I also can play a bit of table tennis..... ^_^

Hari Minggu sore, kami ke rumah Cheryl. Rumahnya sekitar 3km dari rumah D&K. Dia punya peternakan sekitar 10ha, kalau menurut ukuran Australia sih kecil katanya. Ah, jadi ingin bawa ponakan-ponakan, Janice dan Glenn main kesini.
Saturday afternoon we visited Cheryl's place. She lives around 3km from D&K's home. She has a small farm by Australian standards, around 10 hectares. I hope I can bring  my niece and nephew, Janice and Glenn here.

oh, nyaris terlupakan. Hari Minggu pagi, setelah mengunjungi Sunday Market, kami mengunjungi salah satu tempat kerja Karyn. Dia adalah tenaga relawan di Pemadam Kebakaran Casterton. Selain itu Karyn juga adalah seorang sopir ambulans.
Ah, I almost forgot! On Sunday morning after we went to the local market, we visited one of Karyn's work places. She is a volunteer fire fighter for the Casterton Fire Brigade. Her other job is as an ambulance driver. 

Hmmm... Casterton, it is like our home away from home. 

From South Australia to the Victorian Highlands

Perjalanan ke Bright ini melintasi negara bagian South Australia dan negara bagian Victoria. Kami melewati banyak kota-kota, ada kota kecil yang disebut town biasanya hanya berpenduduk beberapa ratus jiwa atau kota-kota yang lebih besar yang disebut city, seperti Shepparton dan Benalla.. Kadang kita berhenti di kota-kota tersebut untuk istirahat makan siang, mampir ke museum atau hanya sekedar untuk jalan-jalan sebentar.

Our journey to Bright took us through the east of South Australia to the state of Victoria. We passed through many towns, some of which have populations of just a few hundred, while others such as Shepparton and Benalla have several thousand. We stopped at many to take a rest, have lunch,or just to do some sightseeing. 

LAMEROO

Kami hanya mampir sebentar disini, karena tidak terlalu banyak yang bisa dilihat. 

We only stopped here for a while, nothing much to see. 

WALPEUP
Di kota kecil ini kami mengunjungi makam Great Great Uncle-nya David.
We stopped at this town to visit the cemetery where David's much loved Great Great Uncle Bill was laid to rest. 

OUYEN
Pas jam makan siang kita tiba di Ouyen, kami mencari bakery untuk makan siang.
We arrived here for lunch at the bakery. 

SHEPPARTON
Kami tiba di Shepparton sekitar jam 7 malam, kami menginap semalam di kota ini. Shepparton adalah kota yang cukup besar, berpenduduk sekitar 39,000 jiwa, di kota ini ada mall-nya juga lho. Keesokan harinya kami menyempatkan diri melihat-lihat di kota ini.
We arrived here at the end of day 1 and spent the night. Shepparton is a big city with a population of around 39,000...they even have mall here. The next morning we had spent some time sightseeing around the city. 

BENALLA

Kami meneruskan perjalanan melalui kota Benalla, sebuah kota yang cantik sekali. Selain mengunjungi Benalla Ceramic Mural, kami juga mengunjungi Ned Kelly Museum. 

We continue our drive through Benalla, a very beautiful city. Here we visited Benalla Ceramic Mural and Ned Kelly Museum. 

  

GLENROWAN
Kota ini adalah perhentian terakhir Ned Kelly, seorang tokoh "Robin Hood" yang sangat terkenal di Australia. Ned Kelly yang hidup di abad 19 itu masih ada hubungan nenek moyang dengan David. Sampai saat ini masih diperdebatkan apakah Ned Kelly seorang penjahat atau pahlawan.
This is where Ned Kelly had the last stand, a very famous bushranger in Australia history. He lived in 19 century but still has a great, great, great, great second cousin alive today..... it's my husband!!! 
There is still much debate as to whether he is a criminal or a hero.     

BEECHWORTH

Beechworth terletak 40km dari Bright. Kota ini terkenal sangat mempertahankan keaslian kota mereka, sehingga sepanjang jalan hampir semua bangunan adalah dipertahankan seperti di tahun 1800an. Disini juga terdapat "Beechworth Bakery" yang sangat terkenal, berdiri sejak tahun 1857.

Beechworth is located 40km from Bright. This town is heritage listed, so along the main road all building are maintained just like they were in the 1800s. There is also the very famous "Beechworth Bakery", which establish in 1857. 

  

ALBURY/WODONGA

Dua kota ini adalah kota kembar yang merupakan perbatasan antara negara bagian Victoria dan New South Wales. Dipisahkan oleh Murray River, Albury di sebelah utara adalah bagian dari New South Wales sedangkan Wodonga di sebelah selatan adalah bagian dari Victoria. Total penduduk di kedua kota tersebut sekitar 74,000 jiwa.

These twin cities border the states of Victoria and New South Wales, separated by the Murray River. Albury on the northern side is in New South Wales while Wodonga to the south is in Victoria. Together they have a population of around 74,000.  

WANGARATTA

Wangaratta dikenal sebagai Chatedral City.terletak sekitar 230km dari Melbourne, berpenduduk sekitar 17.000 orang. Di kota ini kami juga menemukan Chinese restaurant yang enak sekali. 

Wangaratta known as a Chatedral City, located 230km from Melbourne with population of 17,000.

Here we found a very delicious Chinese restaurant. 

Bright Accomodation Park

Selama di Bright, kami menginap di Bright Accomodation Park yang terletak di Great Alpine Road, sekitar 10 menit dari pusat kota. Kami menginap disini 4 malam dari tanggal 23 - 26 Agustus 2010.
In Bright, we stayed at the Bright Accommodation Park, which located on the Great Alipne Road, 10 minutes from the town centre. We stayed here 4 nights from 23-26 August 2010.

Tempat ini sangat luas, selain menyewakan kamar kabin, mereka juga menyewakan fasilitas karavan park.
This park is quite big. As well as cabins for rent, they also provide caravan park facilities.

Pemandangan di sekitar Bright Accomodation Park bagus sekali. 

The views around the park are very beautiful.

Mount Hotham Alpine Resort

Ada beberapa snow resort dan tempat main ski yang dekat dengan Bright, diantaranya Mt Buffalo 45 menit dari Bright, Mt. Hotham dan Falls Creek 75 menit dari Bright. 

There are a few snow resorts which are close to Bright, like Mt. Buffalo 45 minutes drive, Mt. Hotham and Falls Creek 75 minutes drive.

Setelah tanya-tanya di Information Centre, kami memutuskan untuk ikut tour setengah hari ke Mt. Hotham pada tanggal 25 Agustus 2010 dengan biaya A$50per orang. Suhu di Mt. Hotham pada hari itu adalah -7C.

After asking around at the information center, we decided to go up to Mt. Hotham on 25 August 2010 on a chartered coach at cost A$50per person. The temperature at Mt. Hotham that day was -7C.

    

Kita dijemput jam 12 siang, terus kita mampir lagi dulu di Harrietville town untuk menjemput 12 anak sma dan 2 guru pembimbing mereka yang mau main ski di Mt. Hotham. Sepanjang perjalanan salju turun, tapi perjalanan lancar dan pemandangannya indah sekali .

We were picked up at around 12pm, then we stopped at a town called Harrietville to pick up 12 students with 2 teachers who were going to ski at Mt. Hotham. It was even snowing on the way up, but it was a beautiful drive. 

Karena perjalanan ke atas sangat licin, mobil-mobil harus dilengkapi dengan rantai pengaman. Di tengah jalan akan ada pos untuk membantu memasang rantai di roda pengemudi sebelum meneruskan perjalanan ke puncak gunung. 

Because it is a very slippery and icy road, every vehicle needs to put chains on to provide grip. At the half way point, there is a station to help the driver to put the chains on before going up. 

Rasanya perjalanan ke puncak lama sekali. Tambah ke atas salju bertambah tebal. Duh... semangat sekali  rasanya... 

It was a long way to the top and the snow became thicker as we got higher. I was so excited. 

Akhirnya sampai juga di Mt. Hotham. Bagus sekali ya saljunya..... ^_^.
Finally, we arrived at Mt. Hotham. The snow is very beatifull....... ^_^

Melihat orang-orang yang main ski, saya jadi ingin belajar ski juga......

Seeing people ski make me want to learn.....

Meskipun tidak bisa lama main saljunya karena cuaca tidak mendukung, tapi senang sekali rasanya sampai saya malah lupa sama dinginnya. Semoga satu hari bisa balik lagi. 

Even though we didn't stay long at the top because of the extreme weather, I was so happy that I forgot about the cold. I hope one day I can come back.  

Bright

Satu waktu saya pernah bilang pada David bahwa saya belum pernah melihat salju dan berharap satu saat nanti saya akan merasakan, melihat dan menyentuh salju. Ternyata David tetap ingat kata-kata saya itu dan merencanakan untuk membawa saya melihat salju saat bulan madu kami. Karena itu, kami berangkat ke Bright  pada tanggal 22 Agustus 2010 sehari setelah perkawinan kami.

Long ago, I told David that I have never seen snow before and hope that one day I can feel, see and touch it. He remembered this and planned to have our honeymoon at Bright close to the snow. So, we left on 22 August one day after our wedding day. 

Bright terletak di Great Alpine Road - Victoria, 12 jam berkendara dari Adelaide. Bright disukai sebagai tempat persinggahan untuk ke beberapa snow resort karena menginap di Bright tidak sedingin dan semahal di di snow resort. Kota kecil ini selain indah juga lengkap. 

Bright is located on the Great Alpine Road - Victoria, 12 hours drive from Adelaide. A lot of  people like to stay at Bright because it's not as cold or as expensive as staying at one of the mountain resorts. It's also a beautiful city that has everything you need. 

Karena dulu bright adalah tambang emas dan perkebunan bakao, disini ada Tobacco and Gold Museum. Disini juga terdapat toko barang antik and barang bekas yang sangat luas. Disini saya membeli perangko bekas untuk menambah koleksi. 

In the past, Bright known for it's gold mining and tobacco plantations and there are Museums to both. There is also a huge antique and 2nd hand shop. I got some used stamps here to add my collection.
